I'd like this because sometimes, you see a member browsing the forums who you want to talk to but they won't post and they leave. So you can get people talking, yes.

PM was activated for a while but, as expected, some members abused it so it was taken off again. :?

MMMMMMMMMMM I surrpose people will abuse it send bad messages. It would be good if the regulars or good posters could use it though

But can't they be ignored? If anyone Pm'ed me giving me abuse, I wouldn't be that bothered :? You see who your pm's are off anyway so you could delete any bad ones without even having to read them.

the big problem is, when an abusive pm has been sent and you read it, the harm has already been done and even if that member was banned, the hurt caused wouldn't be worth it.. you've seen some of the abuse that can go on even in the forum..it gets quite personal some times and some members can be quite thick skinned but some of us do take to heart what get's said especially things about children and sensitive issues...

PM's won't be enabled. The main reason for this is that we do have minors visiting the site, and as we currently have things set all communications are in the public domain, rather than some in private which could pose all kinds of issues for us.

Maybe they could install a facility which allows the user to bar messages of any poster who's abusing it?
Or would that be more trouble than it's worth? :?
